With an annual turnover of more than €50m, the Institute has a community of over 600 researchers, engineers, support staff, postgraduate students, interns and industry researchers-in-residence.
With significant committed Irish government support, Tyndall will grow to be 1,000 people by 2030, with approximately 750 researchers, including 250 PhD students. A new 17,000 m2 research building is under development adjacent to the Cork headquarters and there are developing plans to expand Tyndall’s existing Dublin research labs and to establish other research sites within Ireland.
Tyndall’s expansion is also supported by recent national and EU funding wins for significant (M€10’s) additional research equipment across a range of areas such as semiconductor processing, microscopy, quantum technologies, heterogeneous integration, ultra-high speed optical communications and RF through THz characterisation.
About the Team
The Quality Team at Tyndall is the driving force behind the institute’s ISO9001 and ISO17025 accredited Quality Management Systems (QMS). The team ensures that Tyndall’s internal processes align with ISO standards, Tyndall’s strategic goals and the delivery of high-quality research. Through strong leadership, project management, and analytical skills, they identify areas for improvement, implement strategic solutions, and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. The team engages stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, promotes best practices in data management, and adapts innovative communication methods to maximize engagement.
About the Role
The Quality Administrator is an integral team member in Tyndall’s Quality function, reporting to the Quality Systems Controller, supporting the Quality team across a range of administrative activities in the day to day management of our certified Management Systems.

Terms of Employment
Contract: Fixed Term/Full-Time
Appointment may be made on the SEA Scale B (new entrants) salary €39,827 - €55,116 per annum. Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with the public sector pay policy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage all aspects of administration for the Quality Group on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage and operate the QMS and related document control system, including review of requirements when new versions of the ISO 9001 standard are published, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Proactively encourage research teams, operational groups, and external customers in applying ISO9001 and ISO17025 policies and procedures.
- Facilitate the Quality team members in the preparation of regular QMS, CAPA, and KPI reports for management reviews.
- Assist the quality team by proactively contributing to the continued development, implementation, operation and promotion of the QMS, engaging staff across all divisions.
- Resolve routine staff and customer queries with accuracy and efficiency.
- Promote the coordination and reporting of internal and external audits in line with the annual auditing schedules, liaising with external auditing bodies when required.
- Deliver QMS/ISO inductions to new joiners and targeted training to staff in accordance with HR’s training plan.
- Participate in Education and Public Engagement activities, as required.
- Ensure compliance with Tyndall’s Quality Management Systems, Health and Safety standards, and other regulations.
- Coordinate the development of new operational processes to drive efficiencies consistent with the ISO standards.
- Carry out any additional duties that may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post.
- Typically, 3 years’ experience in Quality Coordination or Document Control in a regulated environment.
- Professional, discreet and confidential in approach at all times with an accommodating and efficient manner.
- Digital proficiency with tools such as the Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, PowerBI etc.)
- Working knowledge of electronic QMS tools such as QT9 Software.
- Ability to work flexibly with a solution-oriented approach, strongly self-motivated, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to adapt when working with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements is essential
- Understanding of other ISO Standards (for example ISO17025, ISO50001, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO27001) an advantage.
- Experience of reporting and data analysis is an advantage.
- Experience of Lean Six Sigma or other Process Improvement approaches.
- Ability to work on own initiative, both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work, with the ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver results in a timely manner.
